What is Assessments?

• There are 2 types of assessment
• Formal- are tests that are scored and help you
  understand where you stand compared to others
• Examples
• PSSAs
• SAT
• Informal- Can be given by a variety of people
  teachers, counselors, parents and even yourself!
• Examples
• Work experience
• Volunteering
• Just trying new things

What assessment isnt

• Assessments are not just an excuse to get out of
  class
• They are not meant to tell you what you can and
  cant do (They aremeant to help you make
  decisions about your future)
• Assessment is not meant to make you feel bad
  about yourself and your disability

• Before and after you take an assessment ask
  yourself these questions
• Are my needs being met?
• What can/did I learn from this assessment?
