MA Program Objectives
  1. Theoretical and practical understanding of the
    principles of psychology within clinical
    Framework.
  2. Develop competence in applying the principles of
    psychology to multicultural populations.
  3. Build practical clinical skills in diagnosis,
    problem formulation, and crisis intervention.
  4. Develop an understanding of the theory and
    practice of psychological assessment of
    intellectual and emotional functioning.
  5. Develop an understanding of group formats for
    therapeutic change, personal development,
    interpersonal skills training, and relationship
    enhancement.
  6. Examine the interrelationships between
    individuals and the social environment.
  7. Develop an understanding of the major theoretical
    approaches to personality functioning.
  8. Develop an understanding of the major theoretical
    approaches to the practice of counseling and
    psychotherapy.
  9. Understand the basis concepts in psychological
    statistics and research.
  10. Learn how to apply basic techniques of counseling
    and psychotherapy.
  11. Develop an understanding of applied research
    techniques, including treatment evaluation,
    program evaluation, and survey research.
  12. Learn to examine a wide range of brain behavior
    relationships.
  13. Understand the basic processes of psychological
    development throughout the life span of
    individuals and families.
  14. Develop a basic understanding of the principles
    of learning.

MA Objective Measures
  1. Performance and presentations in upper-division
    courses.
  2. Performance in a) chosen profession, or b)
    graduate studies
  3. Successful completion of the comprehensive review
    course in which students must demonstrate
    knowledge of the core areas of psychology covered
    in the program's curriculum.
  4. Successful admission to doctoral programs in
    psychology.
  5. Successful transitions to psychology related
    positions in the community.
