Temporary Free Importations Under Bond (TIB)
  • Temporary importations without the payment of
    duty under bond
  • Bond is double the amount of the estimated duties
    1 year. Extended to 3 years except for Automobiles

Types of Goods Eligible Under TIB
  1. Products to be repaired, altered and processed.
  2. Models of womens wearing apparel as models
  3. Articles imported as models by illustrators or
    photographers
  4. Samples solely for use in soliciting orders
  5. Articles solely for examination with a view to
    reproduction and motion-picture advertising films
  6. Articles solely for testing, experimental or
    review purposes
  7. Vehicles and craft imported to take part in races
    or contest
  8. Locomotives and other railroad equipment for fire
    fighting or making emergency repairs on railroads

Types of Goods Eligible Under TIB
  • Transportation containers during transportation
    and suitable for reuse
  • (j) Professional equipment, tools of trade and
    camping equipment for nonresident's temporary
    sojourning
  • (k) Articles of special design for temporary use
    exclusively for production of export articles
  • (l) Animals poultry for breeding, exhibition
    or competition for prizes and their equipment
  • (m) Works of free fine arts, drawings, scientific
    apparatus, etc for exhibition, illustration and
    promotion
  • (n) Automobiles parts solely for show purposes

Relief from Liability for Duties
  • Reexporting
  • Destruction under Customs supervision
  • For articles intended for testing or
    experimenting, satisfactory proof of destruction
  • If TIB products are not reexported within a bond
    period, Bond will be forfeited or Articles will
    be seized

  • Taiwan TECRO/AIT carnet
  • The U.S. acceded to the ATA Convention in 1968
    and began issuing ATA carnets in 1969
  • Certain countries have accepted ATA convention
