• Research needs to be driven by program, and must
  feed in to policy/program design in a timely
  manner. To facilitate this, we need to develop a
  facilitation forum to identify program needs,
  share research findings, tools, and program
  experiences e.g - Filtered web-sites, newsletters
  with commentary.
• Need to review and prioritize research agenda and
  link it with rapid funding mechanisms.

• Different research methods are needed for
  different kinds of research (both quantitative
  and qualitative). There may be more than one way
  to address a question. Whatever the type of
  research, it needs to be of high quality and
  rigor. This includes learning from program
  experiences and operations research.
• As MTCT responses are scaled up, there is an
  urgent need to systematize/rationalize the
  indicators, make the tools accessible, link with
  existing health info systems, analyze capacities
  for monitoring, and to develop and support a
  comprehensive plan for capacity development at
  all levels.
