Title: Jesus
1Jesus Manifesto
22x-1 5
3Thats what Jesus ministry was aimed at! This is
his manifesto! This is the programme for his life
and death.
And so this is what the church should be about
today
4What we are about to study took place in Galilee
5the baptism
6the eighteenth
Shema
sung some psalms
reading from the Torah
Haphtara
7The Spirit of the Lord is upon me
he was filled, he was anointed, he depended upon
the power of the Holy Spirit.
8So what was that ministry as Jesus saw it?
he will preach good news to the poor.
9The gospel is always related to human need. It is
never truth in a vacuum
The gospel is God's truth, God's action, aimed at
a particular human need.
10So when we proclaim the gospel in the same power
of the same Spirit that gospel needs to be
targeted in the first place at the need of people
in need.
11aphesis.
forgiveness is more than just saying "your sins
are forgiven". It includes releasing or freeing
people from whatever has captured them, or
whatever has oppressed them.
12 it would also include those in bondage to
addictions, or those oppressed by abusive
situations.
13sin and guilt
slavery or captivity to the law
fear
14And those should be words that we take outside to
the captives in our streets, in our schools, in
our work places.
15recovery of sight to the blind.
Satan blinds by keeping their eyes fixed on the
things of this world.
others are blinded by false religions.
16Satan blinding people by seducing them to an
outward form of Christianity.
17But thats our call. That is what Jesus did and
it what he wants us to be doing in 2010.
