Skiing and the Body systems you use in it
  • By Colton D.

2
The Muscular system
  • In downhill skiing you use almost every muscle
you have in your body. You work four of these
the most they are Quadriceps, Hamstrings, Core,
and Triceps. The quadriceps help hold your thighs
in place so you dont squat too far down or from
stand straight up. The hamstrings must work
together to stay In the skis. The core helps you
Do lots of things like keeping your body at a 45
degree angle. The Triceps help you in many ways.
It is the most worked muscle. Some of the ways
they help you are to help turn and stop using
    poles.

3
The Digestive System
  • Before you ski you better have eaten some healthy
foods. If you eat really unhealthy foods before
you eat you will become fat and skiing will be a
lot harder. This system helps you eat the foods
you need in order to ski. You should try to eat
healthy before you ski because it is better for
your body. Your mouth will grind the food and put
it into the tube called a esophagus. You know the
    rest.

4
The Immune System
  • Thanks to your immune system you can ski healthy.
Sometimes you get sick but your immune system
fight them off. You really dont want to ski sick
or it wont be to fun. If you dont have a
healthy immune system your skiing experience
might not be the best. You want to eat healthy so
you can help your immune system get stronger and
    have a better skiing experience.

5
The Skeletal System
  • During downhill skiing you use the skeletal
system a lot. Some bones you use are the spine,
your leg bones , your arm bones and every bone
you have. The spine helps you bend down into your
skiing position. Your bones help you move. You
have some chances to break something while your
skiing. If you during a jump you can break some
    bone or hurt yourself badly.

6
The Cardiovascular system
  • In downhill skiing you increase your heart rate
which pumps more blood and brings more good
things like oxygen into your tissues. Your heart
is the resource for blood filtration. You need
the heart to live so you can ski. It pumps your
blood so that you can have oxygen throughout the
body so that you can live to ski.

7
The Excretory System
During downhill skiing you use the excretory
system. You need the kidneys to filter your
blood. If you damage your kidneys your dirty
blood can flow to your heart and you can get
hurt and not able to ski. You can get really
injured so you can not ski. They filter pee to
your bladder separating it from good blood. The
kidneys tell the body to make red blood cells.
The kidneys constantly react to hormones that the
brain sends them. The kidneys filter blood at
least 400 times a day. You need your kidneys to
clean your blood so you have healthy veins and
cells. The rest makes sure you go so you dont
have to hold and have your bladder
hurt.
8
The Respiratory System
  • During downhill skiing you really push your
respiratory system. When you have been skiing for
a long time your breathing gets harder and you
breath more. This helps your lungs get stronger
so you can breath quicker in hard situations. You
need to breath in order to ski. If you want to go
extreme in skiing you push your lungs even more.
You push your stomach back in fort more so it
    gets stronger.

9
The Nervous System
  • When you are doing downhill skiing you have a
chance of getting a spinal cord injury. The
spinal cord help you by sending your commands too
your body which your body commands. Thanks to
your brain you no when to stop our when to get of
the ski lift if you dont there can be some
problems. The nerves help you feel things like
your pole and when your sitting on the lift
without them you might forget your on the lift
and never get of or you might drop the pole.
