The Water Cycle Definition
  • The water cycle is also known as the hydrologic
cycle is the journey water takes as it circulates
from the land to the sky and back again.

3
Transportation definition and how it works
  • Warmth from the sun causes water from lakes,
streams, ice, and soils to turn into water vapor
in the air. Almost all of the precipitated water
(80 percent) goes right back into the air because
of evaporation. The rest runs off land or soils
into the ground to become ground water.

4
Transportation definition and how It works
  • Transportation happens when plants give off
water vapor through tiny pores in their leaves
this is the plants way of getting rid of waste,
just like people and animals sweat when theyre
hot! This water vapor evaporates into the air and
is stored in the atmosphere until it becomes
    clouds or precipitation.

5
Condensation definition and how it works
  • Water vapor in the air gets cold and changes back
into liquid, until it forming clouds. This is
    called condensation.

6
Precipitation definition and how it works
  • Precipitation occurs when so much water has
condensed that the air cannot hold it any more.
The clouds get heavy and water falls back into
the earth in the form of rain, hail, sleet, or
    snow.

7
Collection definition and how it works
  • When water falls back to earth as precipitation
it may fall back in the ocean lakes or rivers or
it may end up on land. When it ends up on land it
will either soak into the earth and become part
of the ground water that plants and animals use
to drink or it may run over soil and collect in
the oceans, lakes, or rivers were the cycle
    starts.
