Form a Steering Committee
  • President of the Club hand picked Rotary Members
    to be on the Steering Committee.
  • Steering Committee meets for a one hour working
    lunch meeting each month (every month except
    December).

Dues Structure
  • Current structure of paying weekly was not
    meeting the financial needs of the club.
  • Steering Committee reviewed payment plans that
    would provide the club with funds to pay district
    and international dues times.
  • Plan presented to Board and adopted by Board.
  • Annual Dues Structure implemented.

Implementation
  • Started new year with new dues structure
  • Club informed that annual dues would be 500 per
    year that included district/international dues
    and lunch
  • Club members were asked to pay as follows
  • Annually 500 50
  • Semi Annually 250 25
  • Quarterly 125 25

Results
  • Club members were presented with financial
    picture of club standing and what this dues
    structure would due to improve the financial
    status of the club. A six month process.
  • We explained that lunch was a part of the
    Rotarian meeting along with the
    district/international dues.
  • No exceptions were made to those that said they
    didnt eat lunch. President spoke to each member
    that this effected.
  • When members pre-paid attendance had potential to
    go up and be more consistent.
  • No members dropped the club as a result of the
    change.

  • Revamp the meeting format
  • -Goals included
  • Increase the productivity in the meetings.
  • Create an outline that each member can use so
    that meetings are consistent.
  • Creating enthusiasm and ownership of the weekly
    Rotary Meeting

  • MEETING FORMAT
  • Opening ceremonies, traditional but not
    mandatory
  • Program chair plans the following opening of the
    meeting
  • - A reflection, if you wish, said either by
    you or by someone you have chosen in advance. The
    reflection can be a reading, a prayer, a moment
    of silence, a quotation, etc.
  • - A patriotic song or the Pledge of
    Allegiance, if you wish.
  • You will have to arrange for a pianist or other
    musician if needed.

MEMBERSHIP CHAIR
  • Steering Committee hand picked the Rotarian that
    they wanted to lead the Membership Committee
  • Steering Committee provided the Membership Chair
    with an outline of the Membership Committees
    responsibilities.
  • Membership Chair created a plan and timeline and
    implemented the plan.

  • The member that should receive recognition for
    overall service in the Club which includes,
    attendance to the weekly meeting, participation
    in Rotary functions, leadership
    roles-past/present and lives the motto Service
    Above Self.
  • Best Program
  • The member that presented the most
    memorable/interesting program 2005-2006.
  • Youth Leadership Award
  • The Rotarian that has influenced our youth with
    the promotion of Rotary.
  • Example could include service projects and/or
    youth exchange students.
  • Rising Star Award
  • The member that has really participated and
    shared their time volunteering with the Club
    activities and the promotion of Howell Rotary.
    This should be a Rotarian that has been a member
    for a short period of time (i.e. no more than 1
    or 2 years)
  • Membership Sponsor Award
  • The member that has invited numerous guests to
    the meetings this year with the encouragement of
    membership and/or member sponsored new
    inductee.
  • Attendance Good Standing Award
  • Perfect or nearly perfect attendance-dues up to
    date according to the records.
  • Rotary Congeniality Award
  • The member who is always happy and makes a
    special point to welcome new members visiting
    guests. This member mixes at the meetings-not
    sitting in the same location each week.
