children in the city and Burmese refugees being
resettled in the Czech Republic
The Teen Challenge Centre reaches out to children
who are at risk for drug abuse and other
destructive behaviour. The majority of the
children are Roma children who do not have
adequate parental support. The ministry works to
empower these children through education,
anti-drug programmes, Bible lessons, and loving
relationships with adults in order that they may
become transformed by Christian care and make
wise choices for their future.
3It has been a blessing for us to be able to enter
the lives of these children and the leaders who
serve and love them. The language difference
between our group and the children has been a
unique challenge, but by having an interpreter
present we have been able to communicate. It has
also shown us how much communication takes place
without words especially when working with young
children. We are touched by their warm welcome of
us.
4The biggest barrier Teen Challenge Prague is
currently facing is the size of their centre.
Fortunately, they have been able to secure a
larger house a block away from their current
location. This new centre needs many repairs in
order to make it operable. In an effort to
support this ministry our group organized a work
day. Twenty people from our side went on
Saturday, March 12th to help paint the newly
renovated walls. We had a wonderful time of work
and fellowship!
