• Summative Assessments are given periodically
  to determine at a particular point in
  time what students know and do not know.

Formative Assessment

• Formative Assessment is part of the
  instructional process. When incorporated into
  classroom practice, it provides the information
  needed to adjust teaching and learning while they
  are happening. This type of assessment informs
  both teachers and students. Examples included
• Quick strategies used during a lesson to
  check for understanding.
• These strategies send a message to students
  be the best learner you can be
  because you may be asked to demonstrate
  your learning during class,

Letter to the Bettendorf School Board Members

• Write a short letter to the Bettendorf School
  Board Members telling them some of the ideas you
  have learned about this week.
• You will not be allowed to use your textbook or
  study guide for this letter.
• Targeted area included the English establishment
  of the New England and Southern Colonies in the
  New World.
