Please Note
  • Each semester, the current version of the
    Part-time Teaching/Summer Session PAF is
    available on the web at http//www.uakron.edu/hr/e
    mployee-processes/hire-an-employee/part-time-hirin
    g/index.dot. The use of a prior version may cause
    a delay in processing.
  • All part-time faculty members must sign the PAF
    before it is processed.
  • Part-time faculty should not exceed 9 load hours
    each fall and spring semester.

Compliance with Affordable Care Act
  • Part-time faculty teaching more than 4 credit
    hours (Fall/Spring semesters only) should report
    actual hours worked through EmpCenter.
  • Part-time employees are expected to work no more
    than 29 hours per week in combination of all
    assignments.
  • Hours are to be reported weekly.
  • 2 hours of prep grading time per load hour
    assigned can be credited towards the 29 hours per
    week limit.
  • Weekly hours in excess of 29 must be pre-approved
    by the department chair.

    check.

    begin the process.

  • Candidate must submit a Part-time Faculty
    Application Acceptance Agreement

Orientation Packet
  • Who must complete the Orientation Packet?
  • All new part-time faculty members
  • Any part-time faculty member who has had more
    than a twelve month separation from the
    University
  • Form I-9 Must be completed within three days of
    hire. Failure to have the Form I-9 on file
    will bring penalties to both the University and
    the employee. For I-9 training refer to

Personnel Action Form Completion
  • Forms must be completed in accordance with the
    Instructions Part-time Teaching/Summer
    Sessions http//www.uakron.edu/dotAsset/ee87b046-
    5298-4951-9fca-4a8fa49d78f4.pdf
  • A separate PAF must be processed for each type of
    activity. Example Research activity should be
    separated from teaching activity.
  • PAFs that are funded wholly or partially through
    a grant account must be forwarded to the
    Controllers Office for approval prior to being
    sent to Human Resources.
  • Incomplete forms will be returned to the
    initiating unit, which may cause delays in
    payment.
