P802.15.SG4a CFA Abstract SG4a is in the
process of drafting the Selection Criteria
Document for the requirements to be used in the
selection process for a PHY Draft Standard for
P802.15.4a and has nearly completed the Technical
Requirement Doc Purpose Status of the
current Selection Criteria Draft (March 2004
Orlando IEEE session) and plan for the next
steps Notice This document has been prepared to
assist the IEEE P802.15. It is offered as a basis
for discussion and is not binding on the

2SG4a OrlandoTechnical Requirement Doc (TRD)
- Status
- 2 docs posted week 12
- TRD rev 3 15-03-0530-03-004a_SG4a-Technical-Requi
rement.doc - 15-04-0132-00-004a_SG4a-Contributions to Tech Req
Doc.doc - TRD mostly covered during sessions of Tuesday
and Wednesday morning - 3 modifications for rev3
- Suppress item about cost (complexity item self
sufficient) - Add precision about mobility covers intra cell
mobility, not handover nor roaming - Suppress all ref. to classes of nodes (data rate,
ranging precision etc) ? if necessary, this item
will be addressed in the Selection Criteria doc. - Technical Editor will finalize the TRD shortly
for final approval ? rev 4 to happen in the
repository beginning of week 13. - Ask for final approval during next SG4a conf call
(Wednesday 31 March, 930 AM Pacific Time)
3SG4a Orlando Selection criteria doc (SCD) 1/4
- First session dealing with SCD started March
17th. - The group agreed to start using the structure of
15.3a SCD (03031r9P802-15_TG3a-PHY-Selection-Crit
eria.doc) - Note in the next slides ref. to the SCD doc. are
as follow 5.6.2
4SG4a Orlando Selection criteria doc 2/4
- Status
- Template prepared and distributed during the
session. Will be posted soon. - Gone through the whole content
- currently no big deviation seen as to the
structure, - but obviously many adaptations to SG4a to be
made, - Prioritized list of actions established (next
slide) - Work will continue thru the reflector, then
during Conf. calls (see slide 1)
5SG4a Orlando Selection criteria doc 3/4
- Actions
- Technical Editor to work on the generic parts of
the doc and provide SCD rev 0 (week 13) - Main items selected for discussions (reflector
and next conf call) - See next slide
- Link to establish with the channel model group
on - Interference item do we take into account
generic UWB interferer? 3.2.2.2 - Link budget (e.g. table) 5.6.2
- Antenna pattern to be used for the channel model
(currently isotropic antenna in the SCD) 5.6.2 - Ref. to applications (e.g. for form factor )
SG4a Secretary volunteers for a first
contribution e.g. in 5.1.1
6SG4a Orlando Selection criteria doc 4/4
- Main items selected for discussions (reflector
and next conf call) - Packet error rate (consider applications and 15.4
frame format) - 5.5.1
- Elaborate on scalability (accuracy, capacity,
data rate versus range) 3.4 - Elaborate on location awareness (new items such
as tracking) (TD suggests first version ) 3.5 - Work on data rate 5.2.1.1 suggested to
consider criteria such as mandatory rate versus
power consumption (energy), synchronization
needs, cell insertion duration (or similar
parameters), anticipated impact on localization
precision - Elaborate on power consumption (add something on
energy saving, battery life, ) 5.9 - Structure of the PHY header 5.2.2.1 (can we
start as early as now?)
