2Welcome to the advanced mentor training for
University of Worcester students.This builds
on the introductory mentor training and is
designed to provide support and guidance to help
you in the more complex mentoring roles you will
undertake as you engage in outreach activities.

3The purpose of this training is to give you a
greater confidence and understanding of your role
as an ambassador and mentor. It will introduce
you to a range of models, theories and practical
skills to help you carry out the role
effectively.This training will develop your
mentoring abilities and will deepen and extend
your communication skills

5The key aim of working as an advanced mentor is
to engage with potential studentsTo help them
to raise their aspirations, self belief and
attainment.To improve their understanding of
the HE options available to them and of the
benefits of HE.To prepare them for HE so that
they have a better idea of what to expect once
they start their course.This will include young
people from backgrounds where participation in
Higher Education is low.

6Additionally you will have the opportunity to
raise the profile of The University of Worcester
amongst not just prospective students but also
parents, teachers, careers advisors and the
general public.

7 Being an advanced mentor provides excellent
personal and professional development. You will
develop your interpersonal, organisational and
team working skills. The key communication
skills and mentoring experience of the advanced
mentor are highly prized. Employability
you will have valuable experience to add to your
CV and a demonstration of skills not taught on
your degree. Representing your university
you will develop a sense of pride in your
university. Meet new people great way to
