Is going thru the Drive Thru faster then going
Inside the Restaurant to get Fast Food?
4
How Did It Happen
  • Picked a SRS of 3 types of each restaurant by
    using yellowpages.com
  • At each place we gathered 10 times from getting
food inside and 10 from going through the drive
    thru.

13
The Tests
  • Test 1- 2-Sample T-test testing whether the
average drive thru time is equal to the average
    inside time
  • Test 2- Mean difference test, Testing weather the
average drive thru time found is equal to the
national average for each restaurant visited

14
Assumptions
  • State
  • 2 independent SRS
  • 2 Norm pops
  • or
  • n1gt 30
  • n2gt 30
  • Check
  • Used yellowpages.com to find random restaurants
  • 150 gt 30 (check)
  • 150 gt 30 (check)

15
Test One
µ1 Inside times µ2 Drive Thru times
  • Ho µ1 µ2
  • Ha µ1gt µ2
  • T -1.1533
  • P(t gt -1.1533 df 27.6011) .87007

16
Conclusions
  • We fail to reject ho because the p-value of
    .87007 is less then a .05.
  • We have sufficient evidence that the average
times of going through the drive thru of a fast
food restaurant is greater then going inside.

17
Confidence Interval
  • X (t)(s/ n) ( -.295, .62834)
  • We are 99 confident that the mean difference of
Drive thru times and inside times is between
    -.295 and .62834 mins.

18
Assumptions
  • State
  • SRS
  • Normal Pop.
  • or
  • Nd gt 30
  • Check
  • Used yellowpages.com to find random restaurants
  • 150 gt 30 check

19
Test Two
  • Ho µd 0
  • Ha µd ? 0
  • T 4.0414
  • P( t gt 4.0414df 4) .0156

20
Conclusion
  • We reject Ho in favor of Ha because the p-value
    of .0156 is greater then a .05.
  • We have sufficient evidence that the observed
drive thru times were not equal to the national
    drive thru averages.

21
Margin Of Error
  • ordering different things or amount in which you
    order
  • different time of day (how busy)
  • Number of people on shift
  • who serves you
  • timing not accurate(human error)

22
Personal Analysis
  • The collection of data we did find somewhat
difficult just because of the huge amount of data
    needed.
  • We started out by buy all the food ourselves but
then reverted to just timing people because of
    costs.
  • Project was fun but challenging

23
Personal Thoughts Cont.
  • The Results for test one were surprising because
we expected the drive thru times to be faster.
  • The results for test two were surprising also
because they did not fit the national averages

24
Application
  • We find this applicable to any person wanting to
    get food in a hurry.
  • Not always is what people try to advertise is
    always true.
  • Fast restaurant WENDYS
