The Wii, what is it?
  • The wii is the fifth video game console developed
by Nintendo. It was released in November 2006 and
has sold over 35 million consoles in the U.S.
    alone!
  • It is the best-selling console in the U.S.,
outselling both xbox 360 and PS3.
  • It is motion sensitive, so the games use
different motions to play. For example, in the
game WiiSports, you swing the controller like a
bat to swing your character's bat.

3
Benefits of incorporating Wii into Physical
Education!
  • The Wii allows for all students, even those who
are not athletic, to participate and have a good
    time in Physical Education Class.
  • Provides equal opportunities for success, it
becomes more about fun rather than skill and
    ability level.
  • Alternative for students who normally do not like
    to participate in Physical Education.
  • Can incorporate small groups of students or one
large group playing a dance game for example.
  • Incorporate the use of technology into the
    physical education setting.
  • Students can set goals and track their progress
    using the Wii fit program.

    pointing.
  • Your gaming experience will become more active
and realistic than any other video game you have
    played.
  • Each console comes with a remote.

6
Wii Nunchuks
  • You hook the Nunchuk accessory up to your Wii
    Remote for even more uses.
  • The Nunchuk has similar motion-sensing
technology, along with two buttons and a Control
    Stick.
  • This allows you to move characters around while
performing more specific and complex actions, for
    example boxing.
  • Each console also comes with a nunchuk.

Wii Fit with Balance board
  • The Wii Fit game requires the Wii Balance Board,
a platform that the player stands on while they
    play
  • The Wii Fit balance board just like a scale, is
capable of measuring a person's weight, but is
also able to detect the person's center of
    balance, and BMI.
  • Wii Fit contains over 40 activities designed to
engage the player in physical exercise, which
consist of aerobics, balance games, yoga, and
    strength training.
