USING KNOWLDEDGE OF BRAIN DEVELOPMENT TO PROMOTE
WHOLE CHILD LEARNING
  • What are the most significant ways in that we can
    apply the science of brain development to assure
    we teach the

Class Activity
  • Who?
  • Teams of three/four
  • What?
  • Research and then create an engaging staff or
    parent development presentation arguing that
    knowledge of brain development in children can
    lead us to PreK-12 curricula that addresses the
    Whole Child. When?
  • Class time during the week of Nov. 10th 17th and
    24th.
  • How?
  • Select research topic/information that is most
    interesting to you align it with the ASCD Whole
    Child Campaign and create an engaged learning
    workshop to deliver your argument to our class.

Team Roles
  • Checker/Timekeeper
  • Makes sure that team knows the time constraints,
    the steps to achieve the task and any questions
    are answered
  • Recorder
  • Makes sure that all ideas are written down and
    the teams drafts are recorded.
  • Research Validator
  • Makes sure that research ideas, resources are
    gathered and given to recorder. Checks for
    alignment between the curricular goal and the
    brain research.
  • Workshop design consultant
  • Takes responsibility for the execution of the
    teams presentation
  • i.e. Works with checker to see that each person
    knows what the plan is and what each team member
    must do to achieve the outcome.
