• Satire Literary style in which vices, follies,
  abuses, or shortcomings are condemned by means of
  ridicule, derision, burlesque, irony, or other
  methods, often to bring about improvement.

  examined from a variety of points
• Frame satirical ideas are often discussed within
  the context of a piece of literature

Two types of Satire

• Horatian satire Satire which is gentle,
  tolerant, amused and witty. Its absurd- you
  smile when you read it, but its not done to
  inspire anger

• Juvenalian satire Satire which is bitter and
  biting. Its formal and expresses contempt and
  indignation. It may attack actual people- harsh.
