Title: Seven Deadly Sins
1 Seven Deadly Sins Envy v. Kindness
2 God wants you to know Him, and He wants to give
you himself. C.S. Lewis
3 Resenting and desiring what someone else
has. Begrudging someone elses advantages,
successes or possessions. Jealousness or
covetousness.
4 One of the major causes of stress is...envy.
Rooted in a lack of Godly self-esteem, it grows
in the soul-soil of comparisons and blossoms in
the noxious thorns of desire for what others have
or achieve. Lloyd Ogilvie
5 I tell you the truth, when you were younger
you dressed yourself and went where you wanted
but when you are old you will stretch out your
hands, and someone else will dress you and lead
you where you do not want to go. 19 Jesus said
this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter
would glorify God. Then he said to him, Follow
me!
6 20 Peter turned and saw that the disciple whom
Jesus loved was following them. (This was the one
who had leaned back against Jesus at the supper
and had said, Lord, who is going to betray
you?) 21 When Peter saw him, he asked, Lord,
what about him? 22 Jesus answered, If I want
him to remain alive until I return, what is that
to you? You must follow me. John 2118-22
7 KINDNESS Doing good to others from a
heart for their benefit. Benevolence, mercy,
favor, generosity and compassion.
Empathy, unselfish love, thoughtfulness
and grace. Friendship for its own
sake.
8 At one time we too were foolish, disobedient,
deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions
and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being
hated and hating one another. 4 But when the
kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, 5
he saved us, not because of righteous things we
had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us
through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the
Holy Spirit, 6 whom he poured out on us
generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so
that, having been justified by his grace, we
might become heirs having the hope of eternal
life. Titus 33-7
