Math 6/7

• Is NOT recognized by Cobb County as an
  accelerated/gifted class
• The county requirements to qualify for Math 7/8
  will be given to us in May.
• For the 2013-2014, one of the requirements to
  qualify for Math 7/8 was a unit test average of
  85. (This may change next year.)

• 8th grade math options
• Coordinate Algebra/Analytic Geometry A
• 2013-2014 requirement complete math 7/8, 900 on
  CRCT, 90 cumulative test average
• Coordinate Algebra
• 2013 2014 requirement complete math 7/8, 865
  on CRCT, 80 cumulative test average
• The county requirements for 2014-2015 will be
  given to us in May.

Math Survival Guide (MSG)

• Interactive notebook
• Great resource
• Must bring to class daily
• Should bring home so students can refer to notes
  when completing homework
• May use on quizzes/tests

Homework

• Weekly homework Students should not wait until
  the night before the assignment is due to begin.
• Never given a zero
• May not turn in work for a
• unit after the test for that
• unit

Classwork

• Tiered assignments students work different
  levels based on pre-tests, warm-ups, exit
  tickets
• Typically, students have the opportunity to make
  corrections on homework, or to analyze their
  error(s) for full credit.

Tests

• A review sheet is typically given early on in a
  unit.
• We go over the review sheet a couple of days
  before the test. Students are encouraged to write
  the correct answers down.
• Blank review sheet and answers will be posted

Morning Help

• Math 6/7 Tuesdays and Thursdays
• Math 7/8 Wednesdays and Fridays
• May vary by week, please check the blog.

Flipped Classroom

• There are some days that the homework will be to
  watch a video/lesson/fill out notes so that we
  can apply the concept the next day. This homework
  will not be graded.
• If students are unable to do this at home, other
  arrangements will be made to access the
  information

• Students typically have a bonus question on
  quizzes
• Students can earn bonus points on a test by
  completing the unit vocabulary/completing the
  unit concept map (Up to 3 points for completing
  one, and 5 points for completing both)
