Whats a Mental Health Nurse?
  • A specialised branch of nursing that aims to
    provide care for people with mental illness or a
    mental health problem.
  • Mental health nurses work in a variety of
    settings including
  • General hospitals
  • Specialised mental health hospitals or wards
  • Emergency services
  • Community mental health services
  • Triage (telephone or face to face)
  • Residential Services

Whats a Midwife?
  • The word midwife means with woman.
  • Midwives give support, care and advice during
    pregnancy, labour and after the baby is born
    they also conduct births and provide care for the
    newborn baby.
  • Midwives may work in a variety of settings such
    as clinics, hospitals, birthing centres or in the
    womans home.
  • The midwifes role may also involve other aspects
    of womens health, sexual or reproductive health,
    lactation consultancy and childcare.

  • Works under supervision of Registered Nurse
  • Expanding role can specialise, give
    medications, get promoted

  • You can earn extra money. Eg 1st year RN working
    Sunday earns 37.70 per hour and 1st year EN
    working on a Sunday earns 33.27 per hour.
