Purpose of AP Parent Night
  • To give students and parents an understanding of
    what is expected of students in a college level
    class

Expectations
  • Read a college level textbook (approx ½ hr a
    night) prepare for weekly chapter quizzes
  • Write approx three in-class essays per quarter
  • Study for tests (one every three weeks)
  • No group projects, presentations, posters or
    drawings

What is Advanced Placement History?
  • It is the history of everything that ever
    happened in Asia, Africa, Europe, Latin America
    and the Middle East with an emphasis on 600 AD to
    the present

  • To develop skills and study habits necessary to
    succeed in college
  • To prepare for the AP exam
  • High AP exam scores help students get into
    competitive colleges
