Background

• Jesus was making a claim to his own deity and the
  Jews rejected it (Jn. 1030-33)
• Jesus made an argument from the OT (Jn. 1034-36)
• Psalm 826 calls human judges gods and sons of
  the Most High, so even if Jesus was just a man
  why cannot he claim to be the son of God?
• Gods (Heb. elohim) means mighty ones and is
  sometimes applied to prophets or judges
  (Ex. 416 71 216 2228 Psa. 821,6)

Background

• The scripture cannot be broken that is, cannot
  be dismissed or set aside (Mt. 518-19 Jn. 518
  723)
• Gods word is on record in the law and the
  authority of scripture is final every statement
  of scripture stands immutable, indestructible in
  its truth unchanged by the denials, ignorance,
  criticisms or charges of man
• Jesus attitude toward scripture (note just one
  word in OT scripture, gods) needs to be our
  attitude today (Lk. 1617 1831)

Scripture Cannot Be Broken

• Scripture is holy (Rom. 12)
• Scripture shut up all things under sin (Gal.
  322)
• Scripture is God-breathed (2 Tim. 316)
• Scripture does not speak in vain (Jas. 45)
• Scripture is not from man (2 Pet. 120)
• Let us change our life to fit scripture, not
  attempt to change scripture to fit our life!
