    France many enemies.
  • Encouraged the arts, but spent so much that his
    country was in debt.
  • To control the aristocracy he bribed them with
    privilege. This created a great division in
    classes and social inequality and injustice.
  • His death would leave France with a weak
    successor and a power hungry Upper class.
