What is the hydrosphere?
18
Lightning causes a forest fire. What spheres are
interacting? (Explain)
19
The atmosphere (lightning) is affecting the
biosphere (forest).
20
Give an example of how the biosphere affects the
atmosphere

What is Animals breath in oxygen and release
carbon dioxide.?
22
Explain how a tsunami could affect all 4 spheres.
23
Original answer
24
Animals in _______ ___ communities do not rely
on sunlight for their energy. Instead they use
heat energy from Earths interior.
25
What are hydrothermal vent communities?
26
Which of Earths energy sources provides the
least amount of Earths energy budget?
27
What is tidal?
28
Ocean waves are powered by this energy source.
29
What is solar?
30
These 3 factors create Earths tides.
31
What is gravity of the sun, gravity of the moon,
and Earths rotation?
32
Identify 3 types of energy present in burning
alcohol.
33
What are light, heat, and chemical potential
energy?
34
Trace the energy in the motion of a gasoline
powered car back to the sun.
35
Car Moving (K) ? Gas (CP) ? dead animals (CP) ?
plants (CP) ? Sun (EM)
36
Earths equator has a circumference of about
37
What is 25,000 mi (40,000 km)?
38
Give an example of something with high albedo.
39
What is snow?
40
It would take about this many hours to fly around
Earth in a standard commercial airline.
41
What are 45?
42
It would take this long to drive around Earths
equator at 60 mph.
43
What is 17 days?

moving) chem. poten. (could be eaten or
burned) Infrared (radiating heat)
48
This source of energy powers tsunamis.
49
What is geothermal?
50
This source of energy powers waves.
51
What is solar?
52
These are the two reasons Earth is hot inside.
53
What are radioactive isotopes decaying and heat
leftover from formation?
54
List 2 matters 2 energies in a book sitting on
the top shelf in this room. Explain the energies.
55
Matter pages, cover Energy Gravitational
poten. (can fall) chem. poten. (could be eaten or
burned) heat (Its not at absolute
zero.) Infrared (radiating heat)
56
Final Jeopardy
Make your wager
57
  • Explain why the sun shines.
  • Give the name of the process
  • identify where it happens
  • the conditions that cause it to happen
  • identify whats turning into what
  • how long it takes energy get to the surface
  • how long it takes to get to Earth

58
The sun shines because of a process called
nuclear fusion. Extreme heat pressure in
center of sun pushes hydrogen atoms together.
The hydrogen atoms combine to form helium atoms
energy. After a million years or so, the energy
reaches the surface of the sun From there, it
takes about 8 minutes to reach Earths surface.
