3
Energy Consumption is related to Human
Development
4
The problem Lighting
  • 2 M Un-electrified Households in 50,000 villages
in Pakistan (Solar Energy Research Center (SERC)
  • These 50 k villages will remain off-grid for next
    5-10 years
  • Financial limitations
  • Estimated under-electrified HH, who can not
afford to pay upfront cost of upto 10W solar
    solutions is 4.8 M
  • HH spend 8 per month on Kerosene fuel , Candles
    batteries

5
The problem Water Irrigation
  • Agriculture contributes 25 percent of the GDP.
50 percent labour force is employed.
  • Going Dry 1000 cu-m is the current per capita
    availability compared to 5600 cu-m in 1947.
    (Source IUCN Dr. Cheema, 2013)
  • In Pakistan, 38.5 million people lack access to
safe drinking water (Pakisaan -statistics data)
  • Currently, there are nearly 1,084,905 private
    tube-wells (834,905 diesel and 250,000 electric)
    installed for irrigation purposes.
  • Agricultural Irrigation is hampered by
non-availability of Electric supply in Pakistan

6
Problem Current Limitation
  • Raising Diesel fuel prices is affecting farmer
income in the range of US 12- 20 per day for
    average acre in Punjab.
  • High Initial cost Solar Powered Tube-well cost
    US 6-40 K

7
Solutions Solar Supply Well matched to Energy
Demand
8
Solutions Typical Solar Energy products
  • Solar Home System
  • Solar Water Pumps
  • Highly decentralized and particularly suitable
    for remote, inaccessible areas.
  • Drinking Water for people and livestock,
  • Irrigation of crops, from smallholdings to large
    commercial farms

  • A proprietary software platforms, hosted in
cloud, integrated with MNO Payment network,
    process payment.
  • Platform sends messages ( proof of payment)
directly to GSM connected Solar products via MNO
    to unlock the services.
  • Consumer saves money on energy and own the Solar
    system after installments.
  • On-network (with M2M)
