Oberhausen Then and Now

• In the past, Oberhausen mainly relied on the
  development of the mining industry and the
  processing of iron and steel.
• Nowadays, Oberhausen is a modern city with
  skyscrapers and office buildings.Moreover, the
  city has many green spaces and parks. There is
  also the CentrO, a large and well-known shopping
  centre with many tourist attractions.

Oberhausen Gasometer

• The Oberhausen Gasometer was built from 1927 to
  1929 as a disc-type gas tank.
• With a storage capacity of 347,000 cubic
  metres, a height of 117 meters high and a
  diameter of nearly 68 feet, it was the largest
  gas holder in Europe.
• Nowadays, the Gasometer is used as an exhibition
  hall. From the roof of the gasholder you can
  almost see the entire Ruhr area.
