2Summary During landing roll at CLE on runway
5R, approx 2106 lcl time, aircraft weather vaned
and skidded off the left side of the runway
approx 3/4 of the way down the runway. The
aircraft came to rest between taxiways R and A
with MLG approx 30 yards off the runway hard
surface, with the aircrafts nose approx 90
degrees from the runway heading.
3Summary Weather at time of landing was reported
to bewinds 350 degrees at 13 knots,1/2 mile
visibility,snow and fog with approx 100 ft
ceiling.Runway conditions were reported as
slush with possible ice accumulation.Braking
actions mentioned as fair to poor.
4Summary Initial aircraft inspection by CLE
maintenancecrew chief revealed the RT MLG
collapsed in tothe wheel well. Approximately 80
of the right wing was resting on the ground /
mud with apparent damage to both the inboard and
outboard flaps.A strong odor of fuel indicated
possible leak.No visual leak or spill noted due
to the fire departmentsaturating the right wing
and surrounding areas withabout 6 - 8 inches of
foam.
5Summary Right wing tip was dug into the
ground.Nose gear tires were approximately 6 - 8
inches in the mud,and the left main gear was
sunk up to the wheel hubs.Further detailed
inspection was not possible becausethe fire
department restricted access to the
aircraft. 0015/6 FAA release aircraft 0430/6
ORD recovery team on site.
