• Area Symbols use colours to represent large
  features, such as green for parks or forests, and
  blue for a lake.

• Line Symbols either connect places to one
  another (as a road does), or divide up areas (as
  boundaries do.

• Point Symbols are simple pictures or icons that
  show the location of places or services,
  including hospitals, airports, houses, and
  schools.
