Title: Essential Question

1
On your RP Make a list on your RP of
different types of cells many and
varied Ex skin, nerve cell etc. . . .
Wed 12/11 12/12
  • Essential Question
  • What are the diff types of cells and how are
    cells organized?
  • Standard
  • Describe the structure and function of cells and
    organelles.

Prokaryotes Eukaryotes Prentice Hall Text
Book Pages 41-42 Carefully read starting in the
middle of page 41 and page 42 of the PH text
book. Then complete the Venn Diagram comparing
and contrasting Prokaryotic (bacteria) and
Eukaryotic cells (plants and animals). For
plants and animal add what you saw from the scope
lab and what you know from the different
organelles.
we are starting at the bottom of this worksheet
and working our way to the top!

Add this to the back of Cell Theory page
  • Eukaryotic Cells have nuclei and other membrane
covered organelles. They can be single celled
organisms from Kingdoms Fungi and Protista or
they make up multicellular organisms including
plants, animals, fungi and protists. You are a
    Eukaryote.
  • Prokaryotic cells do NOT have a nucleus. The
only prokaryotes are the two kingdoms of
bacteria. They are all single cellular.

  • Cell Theory
  • Turn in your PH textbooks to page 30-31.
  • Read both pages and the timeline silently.
  • Fill in the top part of your worksheet with the 3
    statements of the Cell Theory
  1. All organisms are made of one or more cells.
  2. The cell is the basic unit of all living things.
  3. All cells come from existing cells.

9
In the center of the Cell theory worksheet are
three cells that your may recognize. Even if
you do not know their specific names I bet you
can guess which cell is designed to . . .
. carry electrical impulses, float well and
swim.
10
Under each drawings please write these statements.
Cell shape is directly related to cell
function A cell that floats A cell
that carries through tunnels. electricitya
neuron a red blood cell! A cell that swimsa
sperm cell!

  • New Content Introduced Today
  • Prokaryote vs Eukaryote
  • Cell Shape depends on Cell Structure
  • New!!! How cells are organized
  • Raise your hand if you can still say the 5 levels
of Ecological Organization in order? Population
    etc.
  • Talk to your desk partner can you work
backwards from organism and get to cell there
are 3 levels between organism and cell.

Pay Attention!
