Title: Orange House Name Selection
1Orange House Name Selection
Nelson Mandela
2- Nelson Mandela is a South African politician who
served as the first Black President of South
Africa from 1994 to 1999.
3Before being elected as president he was a
anti-apartheid activist and co-founded the armed
wing of the African National Congress. In 1962
he was arrested and convicted of sabotage and
other charges, he was sentenced to life
imprisonment. He served 27 years in prison, then
4 years after he was released he became the
president of South Africa. He is a good
example for the modern day as he brought everyone
together in South Africa and this is an example
for us at Roundwood Park.

5Nelson Mandela suits the learning part of the
school LIFE values because whilst in prison
Mandela undertook study with the university of
London by correspondence through its external
programme and received a degree of Bachelor of
Laws. He was subsequently nominated for the
chancellor of the University of London in 1981,
but he lost to Princess Anne.
Education is the most powerful weapon which you
can use to change the world. Nelson Mandela
6Nelson Mandela suits the integrity part of the
school LIFE values because even after 27 years in
prison he wasnt bitter, many people believed
that he would just swap the apartheid from
discriminating against black people to putting
them in charge and people discriminating against
the white people, however he knew that this would
do nothing for the country and so he just
abolished it all together.
7Nelson Mandela suits the friendship part of the
school LIFE values because he united two races
that disliked each other, he created peace in
South Africa by abolishing racism.
I detest racialism, because I regard it as a
barbaric thing, whether it comes from a black man
or a white man. Nelson Mandela
8Nelson Mandela suits the excellence part of the
school LIFE values because Mandela has received
more than two hundred and fifty awards over four
decades, most notably the Nobel Peace Prize in
1993. He was once regarded as a terrorist but he
is now regarded as uncontroversial because he
destroyed the allegations of terrorism by uniting
South Africa as a non-racist country.
