What is Monitoring?

• Monitoring for EVS teachers and paraprofessionals
  means
• close and informed observation of students
  mobility
• direct supervision of travel for safety

Monitoring Includes

• Encouraging the use of OM techniques taught by
  the OM teacher
• Making corrections for safety, when necessary
• Intervening verbally or with physical assistance
  for safety, when necessary
• Encouraging maximum independence

Working As a Team for Monitoring

• Develop a monitoring plan. The OM teacher, the
  TVI, and the OM paraprofessional work together.
• Work with the EVS supervisor to review the
  monitoring plan and share it at sites.

• Communicate with the classroom teacher about
  monitoring and safety.
• Stay in touch with the OM teacher and EVS
  supervisor about

  travel
