TENSION Force will create a divergent boundary
SHEAR force will create a transform boundary
COMPRESSION force will create a convergent
boundary

Normal Fault

• Force TENSION
• The exposed land can form a cliff or mountains
• The hanging wall moves downward and the footwall
  moves upward

Reverse Fault

• these fault blocks are moving towards each other.
• Force COMPRESSION
• Hanging wall moves up and the footwall moves
  down.

Strike-Slip Fault

• Blocks slide past each other usually in a
  horizontal motion
• San Andreas fault is an example
• FORCE SHEAR

Thrust Fault

• One fault block is thrust over the other
• Can create plateaus and mountains
• Force COMPRESSION
