1
ASSEMBLING THE PCB V3.914
Hold the PCB as shown below
2
WIRE LINKS
There are 2 wire links to put in LK1 and LK2.
Use tinned copper wire (0.6mm2) and shape it so
the wire is as flat as possible to the PCB.
3
BATTERY HOLDER
The battery holder is for the button cell. It has
2 tabs top and bottom that insert through the
large holes. Solder these carefully and use
plenty of solder.
4
RESISTORS
There are 2 resistors, R1 and R2. Insert them as
shown and cut off the excess wires with side
cutters.
When the resistors are inserted into the PCB,
bend the wires outwards slightly, to hold them in
place while you solder them.
5
IC HOLDER
This is optional but eases replacement of the IC
if needed. The IC holder is inserted with the
notch facing down. Make sure all 8 pins go
cleanly through the holes.
When the IC holder is inserted into the PCB, bend
the pins over from 2 opposite corners to hold the
IC holder in place while you solder it.
6
CAPACITOR
The capacitor C1, is a 1uF capacitor labelled
105. It can be inserted either way round.
7
TRANSDUCER
The transducer is an AC type. It can be inserted
either way round.
8
PUSH BUTTON
The push button has a flat edge on the cover.
This should be inserted facing left as shown.
Ensure it is pushed fully into the PCB.
9
LEDS
There are 4 red LEDs. These have a positive
connection denoted by the longer wire. There is
also a flat section on the edge showing the
negative, this faces upwards.
Use the LED guide to set the LEDs to the correct
height. This is the same height as the rim of the
push button, 6.5mm.
10
INTEGRATED CIRCUIT
The IC can now be inserted into the IC holder.
Make sure the notch on the case of the IC is
facing down and all the pins are inserted
correctly.
To ease IC insertion, carefully pinch the rows of
legs inwards slightly to help align them. ICs
generally have their legs set slightly apart from
manufacture.
11
BUTTON CELL
Finally insert the button cell with the flat side
upper most. The LEDs should flash and a brief
tune should play then the IC will go to sleep.
Push the button to operate.
