Title: Stem Changing Preterite Verbs
1Stem Changing Preterite Verbs
2Review
The stem of a verb is what is left after you have
dropped the ar, -er, -ir.
If you have a stem changing verb, there is a
change only in the stem of the verb. It does NOT
effect the verb endings for each tense.
3A verb that is a stem changer in the present
indicative is not automatically a stem changer in
the preteritesometimes, a verb is a stem
changer in both, or in only one of the two.
Remember, in the present indicative we call them
BOOT verbs.
WHY?
4Pensar (egtie) To Think pienso
pensamos piensas piensa piensan
5Preterite verbs are not called boot verbs because
they change in a different form.
