2High School 101
- You need 42 credits to graduate and earn a
diploma - How do you earn a credit?
- You earn a credit every time you pass a class.
- Each year you have the chance to earn between
- 13-15 credits.
- You must pass CORE classes to graduate
- English, math, science, social studies, PE
- You also need some ELECTIVE credits
- Classes you choose
3Core 40 Diploma
- English 8 credits
- 2 credits during Freshmen year
- English 9 Full Year ( 2cr over 3 trimesters)
- Honors English 9 ( 2cr over 2 trimesters)
- Teachers will recommend students for an English
class.
4Core 40 Diploma
- Science 6 credits
- 2 credits Freshmen year
- Integrated Chemistry and Physics A B
- Honors Biology (2nd and 3rd Trimester)
- Students who are finished with Algebra I by the
start of freshman year will be placed in ICP
Trimester 1. At the end of that Trimester,
science teachers and administration will
determine which students will be placed in Honors
Biology for the remainder of the year or which
will continue for a second trimester of ICP.
5Core 40 Diploma
- Math 6 credits (8 credits for AHD)
- 2 credits during Freshmen year
- Algebra I XY( 2 cr accelerated over 2
trimesters) - Algebra I Full Year ( 2cr over 3 trimesters)
- Geometry( 2 cr over 2 trimesters)
- Honors Geometry( 2 cr over 2 trimesters)
- Algebra II (2 cr 2 trimesters)
- Teachers will recommend students for a Math
class. - Algebra in 8th grade will NOT count toward your 6
math credits for a CORE 40 diploma
6Core 40 Diploma
- Social Studies 6 credits
- This will start Sophomore year with 2 credits in
World History
7Core 40 Academic Honors Diploma
- In addition to Core 40 requirements
- 2 more Math credits
- 6-8 World Language credits
- 2 Fine Art credits
- C or better in all classes
- GPA of 3.0 or better
- Complete 1 of the following
- Complete 2 AP courses and take AP exams
- Complete 2 Dual Credit courses resulting in 6
college credits - Complete 1 AP course with the AP exam AND 1 Dual
Credit course resulting in 3 college credits
8Core 40 Technical Diploma
- In addition to Core 40 requirements
- Earn 6 credits in the college and career prep
courses in a state-approved College Career
Pathway and one of the following - Pathway designated industry-cased certification
or credential - Pathway dual credits from the list of priority
courses resulting in 6 transcripted college
credits - C or better in all courses
- GPA of 3.0 or better
- Complete 1 of the following
- Any one of the options for the Core 40 with
Academic Honors - Receive specific scores on the Accuplacer Test,
WorkKeys Test or Compass Test

Provides the framework for future business

- Recommended for students who have completed

Completion of Algebra I is required for this

Speech Speech involves the study and application
of the basic principles and techniques of
effective communication, which are often lost
arts in today's technology-centered society.
Students enrolled in speech class learn to become
more proficient communicators in all four facets
of language arts - reading, writing, listening,
and speaking.
Fine Arts Department
Theatre Arts Students enrolled in Theatre Arts
learn and apply basic concepts related to the
theatre, read and analyze scripts, create theatre
pieces, and develop acting skills. (Fine Arts
credit) Technical Theatre Students enrolled in
Technical Theatre actively engage in the
processes of designing, building, managing, and
implementing the technical aspects of a
production. The focus of this class during the
first trimester is the fall play, while the focus
during the third trimester is the spring musical.

Spanish I is not an appropriate class for someone
who already speaks Spanish well. - To enroll in a foreign language, a student must
have a C average in 8th grade English
