TR Sworn in as President
  • McKinley lay gravely ill for more than a week
  • September 13th the Vice President was finally
    found atop Mount Marcy in the Adirondack
    Mountains
  • "Teddy" Roosevelt rode through the night,
    arriving at a nearby village at 500 AM
  • traveled by car and special train arrived in
    Buffalo shortly after noon on the 14th
  • Less than 12 hours earlier, at 215 A.M.,
    President McKinley had died of his wounds
  • After viewing the President's body in Buffalo,
    where the assassination had occurred, Roosevelt
    was sworn in as President.
