Senior Conferences

• Each counselor will begin to conduct individual
  senior conferences in October.
• Conference topics will include
• Plans after high school
• Class rank
• Review of credit/graduation status
• Transcript
• NCAA requirements (if applicable)

Graduation Requirements

• A student must complete all graduation
  requirements before the graduation ceremony in
  order to participate.
• All seniors must take the KCCT Writing Exam.
• All seniors must complete a writing portfolio.
• Correspondence courses must be completed by April
  15th.

Commonwealth Diploma

• Students must successfully complete the following
  requirements
• Earned 26 credits
• Fulfilled the pre-college curriculum
• Earned at least a C average in four AP courses
  (AP English, AP Foreign Language, AP Science or
  Math, one additional AP course)
• Have taken three AP exams in the courses listed

College Information

• Files with information on particular colleges are
  located in the back of the counseling office
  across from Mrs. Adams office.
• If you have trouble finding up-to-date
  information on a college of interest, let your
  counselor know.
• A set of the College Admissions Data Handbook is
  located on the shelf above the college files.
  Information on every college/university in the
  country can be found in these books.

College Information

• Access to ILP (Individual Learning Plan) and
  College/Career Search coordinated through A2
  classes
• Access to GoHigherKY.org (Kentucky College and
  Career Information Search) is now available.

Colleges, Colleges, Colleges

• The list of colleges that will be visiting
  Lafayette is updated daily.
• Sign-up sheets to meet with a particular college
  representative are located in the counseling
  office.
• The Central Kentucky College Fair is Monday,
  October 12th from 630-900p.m. at Heritage Hall
• The National Christian College Fair is Tuesday,
  September 15th from 600-800p.m. at Centenary
  United Methodist Church .

• The Lafayette College Planning Night is Tuesday,
  October 13th from 700-900p.m.
• The Big Blue Preview for UK is Wednesday,
  September 30th from 700-900p.m. in the Student
  Center Grand Ballroom.

Financial Aid

• FAFSA forms will be available in the guidance
  office in December.
• We will have a financial aid workshop in January
  to help students and parents with the FAFSA form.
  You will receive information on the date and
  time through your English classes.
• Some selective colleges use the Profile instead
  of the FAFSA. Profile forms are available in the
  counseling office.

Scholarships

• A scholarship list for seniors is available on
  the Lafayette website under Counseling.
• Students may get a copy of the scholarship list
  from the website and request more information on
  particular scholarships in the guidance office.

KEES Scholarship Money

• Students must have a 2.5 unweighted GPA for a
  particular year to earn KEES money.
• The only classes that are given weighted credit
  for KEES are AP courses.
• Each students highest ACT score is submitted at
  the end of the senior year.
• Students must earn at least 5 credits each year
  to qualify for KEES money.

ACT/SAT

• If you are going to college and have not taken
  the ACT or SAT, it is very important that you
  take them in October to meet application
  deadlines.
• ACT and SAT packets are available in the
  counseling office or you can register online at
  www.act.org and www.collegeboard.com

Selective Service System Registration

• Men who are 17 or 18 years old
• Men who register stay eligible for
• Student loans and grants
• Job training
• Government jobs
• U.S. Citizenship (male immigrants)
• Register the fastest and easiest way on the
  internet www.sss.gov
