III. How did New Orleans fall?
  • A. On April 25, 1862, the Union fleet, led by
    David Farragut, captures New Orleans, the largest
    city in the South. This allowed the Union to
    control much of the Mississippi River and the
    Souths supplies.

  • A. Bloody Antietam was a battle that took
    place on September 17, 1862 in Sharpsburg, MD.
    It was the the bloodiest day in all of
    American history. 25,000 men were killed or
    wounded.
  • B. The South lost, retreating into VA. General
    McClellan missed a
  • chance to finish off the Confederates and
    possibly the war, so he was fired by Lincoln.
