1Principles of Excellent Research Preparation
Foundation of Knowledge Students should
demonstrate understanding of foundations of
inquiry, measurement theory and be familiar with
the major paradigms in educational research.
Breadth of Knowledge Students should demonstrate
knowledge of both quantitative and qualitative
methods. They should be able to understand and
evaluate critically studies in the research
literature.
Depth of Knowledge Students should demonstrate
advanced level knowledge and competence in an
area of methodology.
Application of Knowledge Students should
demonstrate their ability to conduct a research
project in their discipline prior to the
dissertation.
