ABSTRACT
PHARMACIST PERFORMANCE ON COUGH SELF MEDICATION
SERVICES AT THE PHARMACIES IN EAST SURABAYA
The patient satisfaction toward the
pharmacist performance on information services
at the pharmacies in east Surabaya had
been investigated. The study was conducted by
survey method, with a set of questionnaire as the
research instrument. Ten pharmacies were selected
as sample sites, which phramacists practiced
actively everyday. From those pharmacies, 68
patients who came there to buy cough medicines
were selected to be respondents. They were asked
to fill the questionnaires, then the data
were transferred into the patients importance
data index and the pharmacists performance index.
The result were then plotted into
cartessian diagram to analyze the
patient satisfaction toward the pharmacist
performance on information services of cough
self medication.
The result showed that the patients had been
satisfied to pharmacist performance on assurance,
empathy ad responsiveness variables and some
items of reliability variable i.e. on asking
pharmacist asked the type of cough how long had
the cough symptoms been occured how could the
patient be suffered from cough what medicine had
been taken did the patient take other medicines
on delivering information about the benefit
of the drug the adverse reaction of the drug and
the direction of use. The patient had not been
satisfied to the pharmacist reliability on asking
the age of the patient who was the drug for on
delivering the information about the drug name
the drug strength the storage conditions the
activities should be avoided during drug
administration the drug and food should be
avoided when must the drug be discharged and the
suggestion to consult the physician if necessary.
