  or phase.

• Develop Project Charter
• Identify Stakeholders

• Introduction
• Within the initiating processes,
• initial scope is defined
• initial financial resources are committed
• Internal and external stakeholders are identified
• If not already assigned, the project manager will
  be selected.
• This information is captured in the PROJECT
  CHARTER and STAKEHOLDER REGISTER.
• When the project charter is approved, the project
  becomes officially authorized.

• Large or complex projects may be divided into
  separate phases in this process group. PHASING
• Although the project management team may help
  write the project charter, approval and funding
  are handled external to the project boundaries.

• customer and other stakeholder satisfaction.

• As part of the Initiating processes the project
  manager is given the authority to apply
  organizational resources to the subsequent
  project activities.

• that formally authorizes a project or a phase
  
• and
• documenting initial requirements
• that satisfy the stakeholders needs and
  expectations.
• In multiphase projects, this process is used to
• validate or refine the decisions made during the
  previous iteration of Develop Project Charter.
