I liked the idea that kids from different
schools get the chance to work with kids from
other schools without leaving their own
schools. I think its great the students get the
opportunity to take courses not offered at home
school - also the interaction with students from
other schools is a great experience for
them. Working with the teacher and the
students. I was surprised and pleased by the
degree of personal relationships that the
students could achieve. I think it is a
wonderful opportunity to gain knowledge from
outside this school district. All the different
classes you can offer. The different schools -
get to see how the students are so much alike.

Sometimes unsure as to what my "role" is.
Sometimes things got a little crazy with people
from different schools talking at the same
time. There is a lot of lost time because the
schools aren't on the same bell schedule. Tough
to get extra help during the school
day. Sometimes could not hear or understand
students and other sites. Lack of internal
support/communication within school-students not
aware of offering, counselor not promoting
courses nor willing to make schedule conflict
work for students. Unprepared host teacher. It
could be difficult when teacher would fax items
over at the last minute needing them for THAT
class. Some teachers did not return assignments
in a timely manner.

I would make sure the schools advertise it
earlier so our juniors know what we have to offer
them when they make up their schedules. Would
like to have the teacher at the host site visit
the away classroom more often. Find a way for
administrators and faculty to support DL. Many
don't even know who can teach courses, which ones
can be offered etc. One of my biggest problems
was in trying to contact the DL room directly.
Many schools have complicated menu systems and it
takes quite a lot of effort. It would be easier
if I could e-mail the other teachers with
information about students. Getting all the
schools on the same time schedule. Our school
lost a lot of class time because of our schedule.

It was a pleasure to be a part of this. I
enjoyed the whole year, everyone was great. As a
parent and resident I believe in distance
learning. The world is changing so and it
gives students and staff a chance to learn in a
positive way. Our students had opportunities to
learn in a different way and take subjects that
were not offered at our school.
