The Closed Mind

• Sin is rebellion against the will of God.
• Sin hardens the heart. . .
• Types of heart hardening sins
• Unconfessed
• Secret
• Besetting sins beset skillfully surrounds
  us.
• Pride and arrogance

The Confused Mind

• When we do not nurture the word planted in our
  heart.
• Nurture relates to the cultivation of mind and
  morals, and employs for this purpose now commands
  and admonitions, now reproof and punishment.
• When we hear the word, gladly accept it, and do
  nothing about it.

The Confused Mind

• You begin to have problems with simple matters
  like church attendance, prayer and reading the
  Bible.
• You have a difficult time making a genuine,
  lasting break with sin.
• You shrink away from the radical claims of Christ
  and the cross.
• You become offended when you are mocked,
  ridiculed, laughed at or persecuted for your
  profession of faith.

The Cluttered Mind

• When the word is spoken or read, do you find
  yourself always distracted and focused on other
  things?
• Are you more concerned with getting finished with
  church so that you can get on with other things
  that are important to you?
• Are you struggling with prayer because you can
  not focus long enough to talk to the Master?
