• Ecology is the study of interactions between
  organisms and the living and nonliving components
  of their environments.

• Biotic factors- the living components of the
  environment.

Abiotic Factors

• - The nonliving factors of the environment. For
  example temperature, humidity, pH, salinity,
  oxygen concentration, amount of sunlight and
  precipitation.

• The environment has levels of organization. Each
  level has unique properties that result from
  interactions between its components.

Biosphere

• The biosphere is the largest and most inclusive
  level of organization. It includes the surface of
  earth, atmosphere , hydrosphere and all organisms.

Ecosystem

• An ecosystem includes all living and nonliving
  things found in a particular place. For example,
  all the living and nonliving things in a pond
  interact in ways that affect survival.

Community

• A community is made up of all the living things
  in a particular area. For example in a pond it
  would be the frog, turtle, lilly pads, algae,
  fish and insects.

Population

• A population is all members of the same species
  living in one place.

Organism

• An organism is any living thing. It is the
  smallest and most specific level of organization
  in ecology.
