Why Study Business Ethics
  • Perhaps when business people ask why they should
    be ethical, they have a different question in
    mind what is the motivation for being good? Is
    their something in it for them?
  • There is no denying that one can often do well by
    doing good.
  • An ethical company is more likely to build a good
    reputation, which is more likely to bring
    financial rewards over the long term.

  • Ethics defined as the set of moral principles
    that distinguish what is right from what is
    wrong.

  • Ethics applies to all human activities.
  • Business cannot survive without ethics.

    or indirect stake in an organization because it
    can affect or be affected by the organization's
    actions, and policies.
  • Key stakeholders in a business organization
    include creditors, customers, directors,
    employees, owners (shareholders), suppliers, and
    the community from which the business draws its
    resources.

  • Code of ethics is a written document that
    clearly states what acceptable and unacceptable
    behaviors are for all of the employees in the
    organization.
  • Employees working under the code of ethics have a
    standard by which they can judge their own
    behavior and that of others within the
    organization.
  • Worldwide, McDonald's employees follow a standard
    ethical code.
