Term Definition
Social Class a statistical category to which people are assigned on the basis of income, occupation, or education
Status Symbol a possession that indicates a persons economic and/or social position/status. Similar to other symbols, status symbols get meaning from their cultural context.
Socioeconomic Status (SES) the social class of an individual or group measured by things such as education, income and occupation.
Social Stratification a system where individual or groups are ranked or graded into hierarchical categories layers based on wealthy, power, and prestige
