Introduction

• Bangladesh Meteorological Department is the
  only responsible organization in Bangladesh for
  monitoring earthquake and Tsunami.
• This Presentation indicates the status of
  seismic monitoring, early warning communication
  systems and the data processing system of BMD.

Seismic Network of BMD
BMDs seismic monitoring system nation-wide
consists of four digital Broad-Band Seismometers,
two Borehole, two digital short-period
seismometers and six accelerometers with GPS

Type of instrument

• From April 2007 Broad Band seismometer, Short
  period seismometer, Borehole seismometer,
  Accelerometer etc are in operation. All of these
  seismometer have three components namely N-S,
  E-W, and vertical.
• Also we have a GPS network.
