Design Brief
  • I am designing, producing and evaluating a 3D
model which represents a space for living. The
space must be successful by which I will consider
    time, ergonomics, safety, aesthetics, cost,
    production, environment, impact, storage,
function, durability, quality and trends. I will
research and experiment so that the space is long
lasting and aesthetically pleasing. I will need
to find a client, space, conduct a finance plan
from their budget and see what their needs and
    wants are.
  • Specifications
  • The space must function and work well
  • It must be aesthetically pleasing
  • The area must be safe and easily accessible
  • The space (in particular furniture) must be good
    quality
  • Durability is a main factor as it needs to be
    long lasting
  • Consider environmentally friendly products and
    materials
  • I only have 15 weeks to complete my folio and to
conduct the space so I have to stick to a time
    plan and work efficiently.
  • Constraints
  • The size of the space cant be changed
  • We have to stay on time- time/production plan

name Summary They are qualified architects that
offer professional expertise and create
opportunities to increase income. They involve
their clients in everything that they do, so that
the clients know that they are in charge and can
ensure that everyone is working towards a certain
goal. Firstly they start by discussing your
requirements and suggestions of what they need to
do. They then provide an estimate cost and
timeline that fits around the client. Influence

Criteria to evaluate Success
This space is accessible for objects that usually
remain scattered around a persons home. The use
of an inbuilt bookcase makes the room look more
open and looks tidy. The modern furniture in this
space looks very up-market and exquisite. The
simple portrait is eye catching but still sticks
to the simplistic theme.

Criteria To Evaluate Success
Design Brief
For my model to be successful it must I will test this by Analysis at the end
Function- For the space to be accessible and to suit the purpose. Measuring the height of the average person and the weight (to make the doors the right size)
Aesthetics- It must be pleasing to the clients eye. Making colour and trend boards- and showing the client, getting feedback from them.
Safety- Making sure the space is safe and not harming anyone Make sure if there are children using the space there are no sharp edges and that there is storage high above so that the children cant get to it. Making sure you are able to walk through the room without walking into anything.
Cost- stick to the budget of the client Making calculations to use the money wisely on furniture, builders, painters etc.

Design Brief
Durability- the furniture must be long lasting When going to the furniture stores ask questions such as what materials and fabrics is this made from? If I drop juice on it will it stain?
Ergonomics- the space must be designed for comfort, safety, efficiency and productivity. The furniture being comfortable. Making sure the shelves are easily accessible. Making sure the passageways are noticeable and convenient.
Trends- be modern and original Not following current trends as they well become dated. Having an original taste and creating a deisgn from my own mind. I will look through old magazines and incorporate a modern taste to it. Draw sketches of what I want the furniture to look like, and get the furniture made.
Quality- it must be able to last long and the fabrics and materials must be high quality. Making sure the furniture is stain resistant, long lasting, not going to shrink or stretch. And not going to break in months to come.

Material- the materials must match the theme and the colours that are running throughout the sapce. Must be fitted to that area. Making the colour and trend boards for my client. Getting fabric samples and paint samples and see if that clash or if they work well. Make sure the fabrics and materials are long lasting.
Social- it must be aesthetically pleasing and must be easy for the clients to use. If the person is a messy person construct a way to help keep the room clean, such as storage space for them to put their throw pillows from their bed etc.

Analysis of the Brief The clients that I am
working with for this project is and . The
space that I am redesigning is the main bedroom.
They want a bedroom that doesnt stand out to the
rest of the house, a modern and fresh look and a
use for the big space that they have. The
clients want to keep the shutters and carpet and
it is a must that there be built in wardrobes.
The budget is a max 10 000 including paying
builders and electricians.

Design Brief
Design Specifications CONSIDERATIONS- Time- we
only have 15 weeks to complete the project and
folio. Consider using time effectively and making
a time and production plan. Materials- what
materials am I going to use? Are they durable?
Are they stain resistant? Will they fade? Check
when purchasing materials how long they last and
there quality. Colour schemes- I will make
colour boards and check with my clients which
colours are best for the space. I will use a
whole range of colours so that it is not limited
of choice for my client and that they have more
control over the colours they want and the
variety. Function- the room must function. Take
measurements of the room make sure the furniture
is going to fit. And remember to take down
measurements such as height and weight of the
normal person for the size of the door and how
big the windows are so that pieces of furniture
are below the window and not in front.
Environmental Impact- If I am going to buy
furniture consider the environmental impact, if
it is possible use environmentally friendly
furniture as often as I can. Appearance- what
does the client want the room to look like? Do
they have a certain style they want me to
continue on throughout this space? How will the
design look to other people? The space should
look aesthetically pleasing, survey a range of
people from different ages and see if they like
my designs before I redesign the space. Cost-
how much do I need to spend on certain objects? I
want to use the money widely and only spend the
amount I need. What furniture looks best and why
should I spend the majority of the money on that
rather then a home entertainment centre for the
space.

CONSTRAINTS- Cost- I have a budget of 10 000
and must not go over it. Shape and size- I cant
change the size of the space, nor can I knock
down walls. Ii have to work around the size and
shape of the space. Time- I only have 15 weeks
so I have to stay organised and on top of my work
so that this room is successful.
OPPORTUNITIES- Skill development- this project
gives me a chance to improve my knowledge, skills
and to see how creative I am and to see if
architecture or interior designing is the right
path for me. A new developed room- an efficient
room will be made through this project and It
will look more modern and inviting.
