Rule 3 Players, Subs Equipment
  • Team and Captain
  • Each team must begin the game with five players
  • The captain is the team rep
  • Rosters, Starters Numbers
  • Scorers shall be given names, numbers and
    starters at least 10 min. prior to game time
  • Team is penalized and charged with one Tech
    Foulregardless of how many of the following
  • Change a starter (injury, illness etc)
  • Add a name to roster
  • Change a team members number
  • Require a player to change a number in book
  • Team member and/or player have identical numbers

Rule 3 - Substitution
  • Substitution
  • Sub shall report to scorer
  • Scorer shall signal officials
  • Sub shall enter court, after being beckoned
  • Sub must report prior to the warning signal
    between quarters, half and time-outs
  • Subs may be made by a team rep during half time
  • During multiple free throws for a personal foul,
    subs can only be made just prior to the final
    free throw or after final is successful
  • Exception when there is a required sub all
    subs who are ready may enter
  • A sub shall not replace a designated jumper or
    free thrower
  • Unless as a result of injury or illness
  • Any sub may enter the game to attempt free throws
    for tech foul
  • Sub becomes a player
  • When he enters the court
  • If as a result of illegal entry when ball
    becomes live

Rule 3 - substitution
  • A player becomes bench personnel
  • When his sub becomes a player
  • If player is disqualified when coach is notified
  • A player who has been requested, or directed to
    leave the game, shall not re-enter prior to the
    next opportunity to substitute after the clock
    has been properly started
  • When bench personnel are beckoned onto the court,
    or come onto the court to attend to a player the
    player must leave the game unless the situation
    can be corrected during a requested time-out.
    Players with blood issues are addressed in the
    same manner

Rule 3-3-6 Blood Rule Clarified
  • A Player with any amount of blood on the uniform
    shall be directed to leave the game until the
    situation is corrected.

Home Jerseys 3.4.6b
  • Home Jerseys are required to be WHITE in color.
  • A new note was added
  • recommending that the visiting
  • teams dark jersey be the darker of
  • the schools color scheme or black.

Uniforms
  • Team jersey is to be worn inside the pants,
    unless designed to be worn outside
  • Team member is prohibited from removing jersey
    within confines of playing area
  • Uniform pants shall be worn above the hip
  • American flag may be worn on the jersey, provided
    it does not exceed 2x3 inches and does not
    interfere with the number
  • Memorial patch may be worn on jersey
  • Not to exceed 4 square inches
  • Cannot be a number
  • Worn above the neckline or in the side insert
  • (Read and review section 4 articles 1-6)

Team members equipment, apparel
  • Equipment or apparel which is dangerous or
    confusing to other players may not be worn
  • Hard and unyielding substances shall not be worn
  • From elbow to fingers
  • Even if covered with padding
  • Medical, cosmetic and religious reasons may be
    given consideration by State Association
  • Headbands may be worn, no wider than 2 inches
    non-abrasive unadorned (except logo). Color
    must be white, black, beige or similar to the
    primary color of the jersey. Must be worn as
    intended.
  • One sweat band (color as above), no wider than 4
    inches (non decorative or for individual
    identification
  • Compression sleeves may be worn with medical
    documentation. No cotton or non-supportive
    material
  • Rubber or cloth elastic bands may be used to
    control hair
  • Equipment designed to give players an unnatural
    advantage may not be used

Compression Sleeves
  • Must be a single solid school color. (Or white,
    beige)
  • Must be the same for all team members.
  • May have a single manufacturers logo. Must not
    exceed 2 ¼ square.
  • Must be for medical purposes.

Team members equipment, apparel
  • An illegal undershirt may not be worn (see rule
    3.4.6)
  • Undergarments not allowed to extend below the
    pants
  • Single color (similar to color of pants)
    compression shorts may be worn, if the length is
    above the knee
  • Jewelry may not be worn (religious medical
    alert medals are not considered jewelry)

Logo/trademark Size
  • One visible logo is permitted on the pants,
    compression shorts, sweatbands and headbands
  • Limited to 2 ¼ square inches
  • Shall not exceed 2 ¼ inches in any dimension
  • No visible manufacturers logo is permitted on
    the jersey or undershirt
  • SAFETY
  • Players finger nails or hair style may constitute
    a safety concern. If so.a player will not be
    permitted to play
