Teaching Tips

• Sit down to be at eye level with your patient.
• Start with basic information.
• Keep it simple.
• Teach what the learner needs to know.
• Make teaching interactive. Ask questions that
  require more than a yes or no answer.
• Use teaching aids.
• Include family members/caregivers when possible.
• Ask patient to teach back.
